Birthing Center Services

Overview

A birthing center is a health facility, place or institution which is not a hospital or in a hospital and where births are planned to occur away from the mother's residence following a normal, uncomplicated pregnancy. Methodology / Rules

The Birthing Center Services program rules are located at Title 1 of the Texas Administrative Code, Part 15, Chapter 354, SubChapter A, Division 17, Rule 1261 and 1262.

Reimbursement rules applicable to Birthing Center Services are located at Title 1 of the Texas Administrative Code, Part 15, Chapter 355, SubChapter J, Division 10, and Rule 8181.

The fee schedules and any periodic adjustment(s) to the fee schedules are published in banner messages contained in provider Remittance and Status (R&S) reports, Medicaid Bulletin articles, web postings, provider manual, fee schedules or other provider notification.
