Overview
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is a Texas agency that works to protect the safety and well-being of vulnerable people in Texas.
DFPS is the singular state agency responsible for defining, maintaining, and overseeing the operation and administration of the foster care program as outlined in the provisions of Title IV-E of the Social Security Act and Chapter 40 of the Texas Human Resources Code.
DFPS oversees the 24-Hour Residential Child Care & Supervised Independent Living Program (24 RCC/SIL) and Single Source Continuum Contractor (SSCC) contracts.
