Certified Nurse Midwife

Overview

A Certified Nurse Midwife is a licensed registered nurse who is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing as an advanced practice registered nurse in nurse-midwifery and who is also certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Methodology / Rules

The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) program rules are located at Title 1 of the Texas Administrative Code, Part 15, Chapter 354, SubChapter A, Division 16, Rules 1251-1252.

Reimbursement Rules applicable to the Medicaid services delivered by Certified Nurse Midwife(s) are located at Title 1 of the Texas Administrative Code, Part 15, Chapter 355, SubChapter J, Division 5, Rule 8085 and Division 9, Rule 8161.

The fee schedules and any periodic adjustment(s) to the fee schedules are published in banner messages contained in provider Remittance and Status (R&S) reports, Medicaid Bulletin articles, web postings, provider manual, fee schedules or other provider notification.
